The TTT Authoring Tool is a simple way for educators, museum professionals and others to create their own audio-tactile materials for the TTT. You create a tactile picture using any method that you choose, such as collage, swell paper or thermoform. Then, you place your picture on the TTT. Next, you define regions on the tactile surface by outlining them with your finger or a pencil, and attach sounds to each one. You can record your own voice to make the sounds, or you can type on the computer’s keyboard, or browse your computer for a text or sound file that you want to attach. A viewer of materials made through this process places the finished sheet on their TTT, and then explores the image by pressing on the image to hear the author’s audio messages. Using this system, it is easy to make very rudimentary pictures suitable for use with children, as well as highly complex images with many layers of embedded information. The TTT Authoring Tool and Picture Viewer programs are provided at no additional cost with the purchase of a Talking Tactile Tablet unit.
