Math Test Delivery System for the TTT

Math Test Sheet

A sample sheet for the TTT Math Test Delivery System

Touch Graphics is working to develop a mechanism whereby students with a certified visual impairment can take statewide, college admissions and achievement tests using an audio/tactile accommodation.

  • State agencies and testing organizations are beginning to comply with new Federal requirements for increased reliance on standards-based assessments to set funding levels.  Given existing legislation covering requirements to provide equal access to educational materials, it seems clear that a new market is emerging for greater comparability between mainstream and accessible test versions.
  • The TTT Math Test Delivery System allows a blind or visually impaired student to listen to test items spoken aloud, and to consult audio/tactile versions of tables, diagrams, maps and other graphic images that are referred to in test items, then to register, review and revise their answers .
  • Work on this system is being carried out in collaboration with researchers at University of Arizona and Boston College , and the system will undergo two rounds of user trials in school systems in Tucson , Phoenix, Philadelphia and Boston.
  • This work is financed by a Phase 2 SBIR grant under the US Department of Education.
