Design: Poliovirus Exhibit |
||||
|
The Lifecycle of a Poliovirus exhibit is now open to the public! This audio-tactile display can be found at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, in the Whatever Happened to Polio exhibit. Touch Graphics, Inc. worked with exhibit developers to create this Universal Design display using the Talking Tactile Tablet, also known as the TTT or T3. Visitors learn about the lifecycle of a poliovirus by exploring a raised-line and textured diagram, and press down on the picture to hear audio descriptions about various parts of the diagram. This multi-sensory approach, in which visuals and audio information are combined with tactile graphics, means that the exhibit is accessible for visitors with disabilities, but is also of interest to the general audience. If you are interested in evaluating this exhibit, please contact Beth Ziebarth.
